Kyle Dent - Detective, Vancouver Police Department

Vancouver, BC V5K 5J5
Detective Kyle Dent was the interrogator in 244069-7-B, and the lead Detective in 244069-8-B. He testified at both of those trials. He committed perjury at one trial, then admitted to it at the next trial. He also mistakenly gave me disclosure material/evidence from someone else's case.
Dent Gets Caught and Admits to Lying on the Witness Stand
In the trial for 244069-7-B, I caught Dent lying on the witness stand on a number of critical issues. Then, at the trial for 244069-8-B, I confronted Dent with the proof that he had committed perjury at that previous trial. He was very evasive, but ultimately he admitted that he had lied on the witness stand at the previous trial.

At my trial in 244069-7-B:
- on direct-examination by Crown Counsel Chris Johnson, Dent testified he had reviewed the file prior to interrogating me TR 2020-11-26 p6l34-36. Then, on cross-examination, Dent admitted he actually hadn't reviewed the file at all TR p21l45-p22l10;
- on direct, Dent testified he did ask me whether I had taken down the website TR p11l42-44. Then, on cross, Dent admitted ha actually didn't ask me anything about whether I had taken down the website TR p21l16-18;
- on cross, Dent testified he "had knowledge" the website was still up and active TR p21l18-19. But on further prodding on cross, Dent admitted he actually had no knowledge of whether the website had remained "up and active" TR p21l30-37.
Then, at my trial in 244069-8-B, I insisted Dent be called as a witness for the Crown. My argument was that he was the Lead Investigator on the case so there is no way he wouldn't have relevant information. Surely the BC Prosecution Service must have realized I was setting up some kind of trap, but because they've convinced themselves I'm playing a "game of chicken" with them and they're too petty, small-minded and arrogant to let me win that game of chicken (which actually only exists in their simple, demented minds - there is no game of chicken), they will never "back down" on anything related to me.
So, when I cross-examined Dent at the trial, I confronted him at length on his perjurious testimony at the previous trial TR 2022-02-23 p41l11-p46l28. He was, not surprisingly, very evasive. He tried suggesting the Crown's question had been vague. And he tried suggesting that by responding "Yes", he actually meant something else. But ultimately, he realized he was fucked; he was caught, trapped; and he admitted that his testimony at the previous trial was false TR p46l5-7.
Although, you might look at the wording of his admission of perjury, referenced above, and you might think "Well, it's a little vague, a little equivocal. He doesn't actually say, 'Yes, I lied on the witness stand'." But you have to realize people like Dent are professional liars - literally. Police are actually trained to be direct and definitive on direct-examination by the prosecution; and to be evassive and non-commital on cross-examination by the defense. You think I'm being paranoid? Look at all of the police testimony in all of the transcripts on this website and you will quickly see the consistency (unless you're in denial ... or you're delusional).
Dent Gives Me Someone Else's Disclosure Material (Evidence)
Dent was also involved in inadvertently giving me someone else's disclosure material from an unrelated case. I ambushed him with the proof of that while he was on the witness stand in 244069-8-B. He was very clearly worried about that fuck-up.
In November 2021, I was being detained on 244069-8-B, awaiting the trial. The prosecution, led by Chris Johnson, sent me a packet of electronic disclosure material disclosure packet, dated 2021-11-09. The bulk of the packet contained a report called a Forensic Acquisition Summary (FAS), which provided the details about the searches of my electronic devices. But included at the end of the PDF file were two pages of photographs of evidence from another, completely unrelated case and included the name and adderess of the victim in that case. That other case involved allegations of criminal harassment, uttering threats, arson, etc.
Dent was also the Lead Investigator on that other case.
I immediately realized the error. I decided to not mention it to Johnson and, instead, wait until Dent was on the witness stand, then confront him on it. That way, they couldn't simply remove the pages and claim it never happened. That is part of the reason I was adamant about Dent testifying at that trial.
At the trial, while cross-examining Dent, I presented him with the Forensic Acquisition Summary. He said he was familiar with it, but he was quick to point out the last page was not relevant to the current matter. No shit, huh! I asked him why I was given someone else's disclosure material. He put the blame on Detective Nancy Yingling in the Digital Forensics Unit (DFU), who had prepared the FAS. But Dent was the Lead Investigator - ultimately, he is responsible for what happens in the case. I asked Dent, "Is this something that happens often?" His response: "I really hope not" TR p78l6-p79l29. Then, I moved on for the time being.
Some time later, still on cross, Johnson brought up the erroneous disclosure pages again. He requested of the court that they be permitted to remove those pages from the packet. He appeared to think I was completely oblivious to the seriousness of the error, that I thought it was just an honest, harmless mistake. It was agreed the pages would be removed and shredded. But then Dent asks, whether that was the only copy. Clearly, he was very concerned about this being exposed. I responded that it's the only copy I have in my possession, but I reminded them that a few months prior, a couple of Crown Counsel disclosure hard drives had "disappeared" from my possession. And wouldn't you know, that disclosure material is now on this website TR p83l35-p84l39.
Throughout all of this, Dent and Johnson were very visibly worried about this disclosure issue. The reality of the matter is that it was actually an extremely HUGE fuck-up on their parts. To mistakenly give an unrelated third party the personal information about the victim in a stalking case? An third party who has a history of publishing everything? Yeah, this was a huge, HUGE fuck-up. I'm suprised the victim in that case, Stephanie Clogg, hasn't filed a law suit against the VPD and the BCPS for this.
And yes, Dent was integral in releasing that confidential information to me, but what about Johnson? I mean, he was the prosecutor on the case. He was supposed to vet the material before forwarding it to me, to make sure no sensitive or confidential information is inappropriately disclosed. Well, he sure dropped the ball on this one, huh? How the fuck did he not notice two additional pages from an unrelated case?
Dent Was Involved in the Myles Gray Death
And, apparently, from what I can tell, Dent was involved in that Myles Gray fiasco. Something about a group of VPD cops beating a guy to death Google: kyle dent myles gray. But I don't know all the facts or the extent of Dent's involvement, so I shall reserve my comments until I'm better informed.
