Kristine Brisson - Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer, ICE

Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer who authorized my illegal arrest and detention

Kristine Brisson was the ICE Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer at the Phoenix, AZ Field Office the day ICE first took custody of me, detained me, and interrogated me.

Brisson was the direct supervisor of Immigration Enforcement Agent Jason Martin who handled the interrogation and processing of me. She is also the one who illegally authorized my arrest, detention, interrogation, and transfer to a long-term detention facility. I say "illegally" because neither Brisson, no anyone else within DHS, had any evidence to support their allegation I was an alien - which ICE is required to establish BEFORE they can legally arrest and detain a person.

At one point during ICE's interrogation of me, having failed to catch me in any lies or inconsistencies, and having failed to find any evidence I was an alien, Martin asked Brisson to help. Together they came to the holding cell I was in, and she tried to intimidate me into "admitting" I was an alien from Canada, illegally in the US. She said, "Things would go so much easier for you if you just told the truth." I asked her, "And what is it you believe is the truth?" She became hostile and stormed off.

Any time law enforcement says something like, "Things would go better for you if you just told the truth", what that means is they have no evidence to support their allegations. If they did, they wouldn't need to try to get a "confession" or "the truth" out of you.

That was my only dealing with Brisson. But she has also been referenced in a number of media reports demonstrating how cruel and vindictive the people who work for ICE tend to be Thin ICE, The Nation, 2008-06-23; Tensions skyrocket as COVID-19 fears grip Arizona detention center, Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting, 2020-04-12
