Robert Berg was an ICE Enforcement Agent who got involved in the 2016 case against me toward the end, just before I was taken back to the Canadian border.

Background

On 2016-05-27, I was arrested by US Border Patrol then transferred to ICE custody.

Over the next couple of weeks, my ICE Deportation Officer Jose Arroyo, acknowledged in an internal email that I did not have a Canadian birth certificate or passport which they could use to remove me to Canada. He suggested they make me a person of interest to the RCMP and/or CBSA to ensure those authorities would take custody of me if ICE took me to the border email from Arroyo, 2016-06-02.

While I was being detained by ICE, they were trying to figure out how they could remove me from the US since there was no documentation establishing I was a Canadian citizen, and IRCC was refusing to issue a travel document.

During that time, the RCMP discovered I had relocated back to the US and the firearms I had acquired in Canada, using the PAL (Canadian firearms license) the RCMP had issued me, were no longer at my prior address - the address associated with my PAL email from Kam, 2016-06-11. From that point, there was a panic within the RCMP and CBSA regarding the location of those firearms RCMP/CBSA emails, 2016-06-11; 2016-06-11; 2016-06-13; 2016-06-13.

Realizing the RCMP and CBSA were grossly overreacting about my Canadian firearms (while, interestingly, expressing no concern about all the other firearms I owned in the US), ICE saw that as an opportunity to make me a person of interest to them.

On 2016-06-12, Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Clifford Leyba emailed Barg requesting he communicate with the RCMP to assist them in interrogating me, at the ICE detention facility, regarding the location of my Canadian firearms email from Leyba, 2016-06-12.

On 2016-06-13, Berg spoke with Detective Denise Kam of the RCMP email to Kam, 2016-06-13. None of the details of that conversation were included in Berg's email follow up, but I suspect it was something ICE did not want any involvement in because on the next day, 2016-06-14, Berg emailed Kam informing her ICE would be transporting me to the Canadian port of entry two days later email to Kam, 2016-06-14.

Neither Berg, nor anyone else from ICE ever spoke to me about my Canadian firearms. In fact, the entire three weeks I was detained at the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) no one from ICE spoke to me at all.

Although it can't be proven, I suspect ICE realized the issue of my supposedly "missing" Canadian firearms was sufficient to make me a person of interest to the Canadian authorities, ensuring that if ICE brought me to the border, the Canadian authorities would be sure to take custody of me. That way, ICE could get around the problem of not being able to deport me to Canada again.

So, it appears, on 2016-06-12 Berg took charge of my case from Arroyo.

On 2016-06-16, I was transported to the Ferndale, WA, Border Patrol station where Berg took custody of me and transported me to the Douglas port of entry, across the border from the Peace Arch port of entry.

And that's all I know about Berg's involvement in my case.
