Details of RCMP's efforts to obtain CCTV footage from CBP and CBSA [Kirsty Brown (RCMP); Bernie Wolfe (BCPS)]

1) CCTV from U.S. Authorities (no response to date):
Following the formal request made in May 2019 (on requested RCMP letterhead/scanned & fwd by email) we have had no response. Two weeks ago Constable Hawkins sent follow-up emails and left a voice mail message with that specified contact, to whom the formal request was made, & to date has had no response. Constable Hawkins followed up with the Blaine Crossing U.S. CBP supervisor, who could not assist, indicating that the specified contact (Rod O'Dell) has been away on 2 weeks holidays, but was scheduled to be back on July 29th 2019. Constable Hawkins had confirmed he has still had no response from O'Dell.
I just sent a follow-up email to O'Dell requesting an update (and have attempted to reach him by telephone). Hopefully we have some response by next week.
2) CCTV from CBSA (no footage available/follow-up actions being taken):
CBSA responded to my request for an update yesterday & it appears that the original request from May 7th was misplaced and not actioned. The CCTV review was conducted yesterday, but given the delay, the footage from March 15, 2019 is now no longer available (they confirmed the earliest footage they have is from April 4, 2019). The officer who contacted me to respond apologized for the oversight, which apparently was a result of a mis-communication between himself and his colleague to whom the initial request was sent.
In lieu of footage, I have asked that all CBSA officers working the evening shift on March 15, 2019 be canvassed to ascertain whether any of them recall an interaction with Mr. Fox (particularly given that one of the CBSA officers present on April 4th, when we attended the Douglas Crossing to receive Mr. Fox from U.S. CBP Officer Berg, made mention that Fox had apparently stopped at the CBSA office before proceeding to the U.S. side on the 15th).
If we are able to identify any officers who dealt with him, we will ensure complete statements are obtained & forwarded to you. I am awaiting a further response from CBSA.
