Marian Brown is a defense lawyer who used to be a prosecutor with the BC Prosecution Service, who was appointed to assist me in preparing a section 684 application for my appeal of 244069-5-BC.
The first time I spoke with Brown, she tried to convince me that CBSA is prohibited from deporting a person who is on probation. I informed her she's incorrect about that. She insisted. I sent her case law, proving she's full of shit. She then claimed that CBSA may not be prohibited from deporting a person on probation, but generally they don't. I informed her she's incorrect about that as well. She insisted. I sent her CBSA's policies, showing that being on probation is not to be considered a factor when removing a person who has been convicted of an offense. After that she shut the fuck up and stopped trying to mislead me on the law.
Given that my association with Brown started with her trying to mislead me on issues of law which were critical to my appeal, I obviously had absolutely no confidence in her as my lawyer.
